He did always fight not only for the freedom of Poland during the communist period, and also took an active part in the construction of a positive image of Poland and the Poles throughout the world. |
The Belgian Representation of Fundacja Polonia International encourages inter-regional relations among Poles living in Belgium. |
At the end of the tournament consisting of various matches (seniors, leagues, juniors and other categories) between the many clubs of Flanders, Walloon Region and Brussels-Capital town, the President of FPI, in the presence of Mr Wiesław Cieleń, President of the local club (FC Polonia-Bruksela) and great organiser of the tournament (hidden in the background of the picture on the right), gave the Cup to the captain of one of the deserving teams. |

Polish National Day - May 3rd
May 4th 2008
The ceremony of wreath-laying and reviving the flame of the Unknown Sldier's Memorial is a symbolic and friendly tribute paid by Polish organisations and Poles in Belgium to show solidarity with Belgium and the Belgians in gratitude for their contribution in the fight for elementary rights of States, peoples and human beings. This event, supported by Fundacja Polonia International ad gathering various organisations of Poles in Belgium, is since 1981, organised traditionally, mainly on the Polish National Day - May 3rd - by the President of the Polish Confederation in Belgium. In this connection, we must remind that during the Soviet influence (occupation), the commemorations of the Constitution of the 3rd of May 1791 (the very first European Constitution) was prohibited and replaced with another National Day on July 22nd (date of a communist movements manifesto written in Chełm on July 22nd 1944). |
Since the retrieval of Russian forces which occupied Poland through 1993, the Polish Embassy joins the Polish Organisations for this ceremony. On the pictures here-by, Mr Włodzimierz Dropiński, President of the Polish Confederation in Belgium revives the eternal flame and Embassador Sławomir Czarlewski signs the Visitors' Book of the Unknown Soldier's Memorial at the "Colonne du Congrès" in Brussels. |
Armenian Genocide Commemoration
April 24th 2008
Fundacja Polonia International, conformingly to its statutes, partly concentrates its actions on priorities considered as essential, such as fundamental rights of human beings and peoples, as well as related historical truth. The Armenian Genocide, together with the tragedies and suffering it caused, is a particular concern of the Foundation's, all the more so since this genocide is still not universally recognised as such and is also subject to oblivion and attempted negationism. In other respects, Fundacja Polonia International is sensitive to the non-violent character of the Armenian claim to the recongition of this genocide. The President of the Fundacja took part in the annual Commemoration ceremony at the armenian Church and Armenian Memorial in Brussels. Through his presence, Fundacja Polonia International shows its active support to the proclamation of historical truth. |

I ask for a minute of silence For the experienced old hands And for the newly initiated ones, For volunteers, For infantry men, sappers, aviators, For hurried Ulans. For retired old gentlemen, For gangly adolescents, and for strapping lads. For those from the forest, From the Resistance, From AK and other formations. For the superhumanly brave heroes. For priests, artists, scientists, thinkers. And for those unimportant ones, Those overshadowed. For the God-fearing ones who just wanted To live peacefully From day to day Not taking part in any war < And who had to take part in one, despite it. For the famous ones And for those without a name I ask for a minute of silence. I ask for a minute of silence. For those beings protected by chivalric laws: Widows and orphans. For children, for mothers. For wives, sisters, and for old aunts. For young maidens and airy chatterboxes, For medics, nurses and doctors, For messengers, guards, cooks, For maids For cleaners For the one who at her own asking, with general consent, served a cake baked in a communal cellar to the hungry from the street, A common cake, As there was nothing left that she owned. For all those never appreciated enough I ask for a minute of silence. I ask for a minute of silence For creatures About whom one thinks less Who one remembers less For whom a reasonable heart aches less, For faithful comrades in good and bad times, For dogs and cats. And horses. For animals. And for the centuries charmed in stones, For museums, theatres, for schools, For churches, For flaming libraries, For documents and mementos, For Warsaw’s pictoresque corners. For palatial halls, For their interiors and riches, For apartments, studios, and workshops. For the heritage of generations. For familial possessions, For priceless rubble. For first hopes, For changing courses of the battle, For despair of the memory: - That as long as we live… And that despite it all …- For the time of immeasurable loneliness. For the song from burning backyards: - Lord, don’t leave us ! - For the Warsaw Uprising I ask for a minute of silence.
